-
1 week before treatment:
-
Stop using retinoids (Retin-A, tretinoin), retinols, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, scrubs, or exfoliating products.
-
Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds. For your safety and the integrity of your skin, chemical peels cannot be performed on sunburned skin. If you arrive with an active sunburn, your appointment will need to be rescheduled and our 50% rescheduling fee will still apply.
-
Do not schedule microneedling, waxing, or laser treatments on the face.
-
If you are prone to cold sores, ask your doctor about antiviral medication (chemical peels may trigger an outbreak).
24–72 hours before treatment:
-
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and steam.
Stop using any active skincare products (Vitamin C, Alpha Arbutin, etc). -
Limit alcohol intake to reduce inflammation. No alcohol within 24 hours of treatment.
Day of your treatment:
-
Make sure to eat and drink plenty of water before your treatment.
-
Arrive with clean skin.
-
Be prepared to avoid sun exposure, makeup, heat of any kind (hot showers, sauna, exercise), and sweating after treatment.
-
Immediately after treatment (first 24-48 hours):
-
Expect redness, tightness, blotchiness, mild heat sensation, and mild swelling. This is normal and fades within 24-48 hours. In some cases, your skin will "frost." Frosting is a result of the chemical peel coagulating with the protein in the skin, turning the skin white. Frosting is more likely where there is skin damage. Frosting is normal and common.
-
Do not apply ice or cold water to the treated area.
-
SPF 30+ must be strictly applied daily. Absolutely no direct sun exposure on the treated area. Sun exposure will cause hyperpigmentation.
-
Do not touch your face with unwashed hands. Treat your skin like an open wound.
-
Avoid tinted sunscreen, makeup, or any skincare products not included in the post procedure kit.
-
Skip exercise, hot showers, saunas, hot tubs, and anything that causes sweating. Heat and sweat will cause hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin).
-
Peeling most commonly starts around the mouth due to movement. Do not peel, pick, or pull at any peeling skin. You can trim off detached dead skin with a clean eyebrow scissors.
Days 3-6:
-
Peeling is not uniform. Do not peel, pick, or pull at any peeling skin.
-
Keep the skin hydrated. Continue using only gentle, hydrating products and SPF 30+.
-
Avoid exfoliants, acids, retinols, vitamin C, or active ingredients. These will irritate your skin.
Continue to stay out of direct sun exposure — your skin will still be sensitive. -
Light exercise is okay. Still avoid heat and sweating.
Days 7-14:
-
Continue using gentle, hydrating products and apply SPF 30+ daily. Continue to stay out of direct sunlight.
-
Active ingredients/products can be introduced slowly on day 15.
-
No dermaplaning, microneedling, microdermabrasion, waxing, or laser treatments until day 15.
-
Can resume all activities on day 15.
-
-
Fillers, injectables, or botox within past 2 weeks
-
